EEI – Transient Analysis Study of the Gibraltar 11 kV Electrical Grid




BOUYGUES ENERGIES & SERVICES has chosen EXPER’ELEC INGENIERIE (EEI) to carry out a transient analysis study evaluating the dynamic behaviour of the Gibraltar 11 kV electrical grid after the installation of the new North Mole Power Plant.

Methodology Used

EXPER’ELEC INGENIERIE carries out the following services:

  • Collecting the input data necessary for the study.
  • Modelling the grid dynamic behaviour using DIgSILENT PowerFactory software.
  • Plotting electrical (U, I, P, Q, f) and mechanical (torque, speed, load angle) variables:
    • 2 grid configurations (North Mole Power Plant supplying Mid Harbour and Waterport Distribution Centres, South District and Waterport Power Stations supplying Waterport Distribution Centre).
    • 2 load scenarios (minimum and maximum load),
    • 4 different events (three-phase short-circuit, loss of one generating unit, loss of the biggest load, three-phase voltage dip).
  • Drawing up a report with conclusions on the system stability.
